Thirsty Work
Are you eating and drinking enough before you workout? Especially in the summer months, it’s so important to remain hydrated - especially when exercising.
Due to the fact that everyone’s metabolism and activity levels are different, a lot of it depends on you listening to your body and working out what is best for you.
Yet not eating or drinking enough before your workout puts your health at risk, increasing your chances of serious injury. As a rule of thumb, you should try to drink a 250ml glass of water 30 minutes before you hit the gym to ensure your muscles are ready to work. That should be followed with 500 ml within 30 minutes of finishing.
If you’re thinking of taking on a long-distance run, it is best to ensure you have a tried and tested hydration plan in place, as water may not be enough – replacing electrolytes is exceptionally important too.
