I'm 19 years old and play football professionally for Everton Ladies and England U20s. I've played football since I was 9 and in the last year I've been fortunate enough to do it as my full time profession. It's my passion and I have been privileged to captain my country on several occasions.
Next summer, in 2018, I'll hopefully be competing in the U20 World Cup in France, so the opportunity to put myself on the world stage and show what I can do is something that excites me hugely.
I want to continue playing football at the highest level for as long as I can, winning as much silverware as possible.
My top tips:
- Mental strength - people think training is all about physical capacity but if you're mentally strong enough you can achieve anything you want to. When training gets tough, use your mind to push you through.
- Nutrition is absolutely crucial for high performance. However it's all about the balance. You can't neglect certain parts of your diet, each bit is as important as the other from hydration to vitamins.
- Power is key. The stronger your legs are particularly, the faster, fitter and more explosive you will be in the game. Strength and conditioning work is massive.
- Rest!! When you're training continuously at a high intensity you have to make the most of rest and recovery to minimise muscle soreness and injuries.
