Kelly-Marie Stewart is our new guest ambassador here at Elite Body Squad and the former Hollyoaks actress has had to change her entire outlook on health and diet following her Guillain-Barre Syndrome diagnosis.
No Breakfast, No Water
After being diagnosed with Guillain-Barre syndrome, which originally left me paralysed, I realised I could no longer take my health for granted. My condition came on the back of me being run down which was a mixture of me basically burning the candle at both ends. I was working long hours, partying at weekends and eating on the go – never really nutritional food, just anything I could grab, usually sandwiches etc. I never ate breakfast, I never drank water.
Learning To Enjoy Meals
This soon changed. I began to make time for food and I realised that my body is like a car and I have to put fuel in to keep it going breakfast/dinner and tea. I learnt to enjoy these meals and always now try to sit down at the table to eat and have a break away from the busy world, even if only for 10 minutes. Everywhere I go I now have my water bottle with me too. I never went to the gym before my diagnosis but this routine with the gym has been the difference between my muscles completely wasting away and me getting back on my feet again!
